History

The 7.92 mm MG 81 (Maschinengewehr 81) was a machine gun designed and produced by Mauser Werke AG in 1938. The 7.92 mm MG 81, was basically a modified 7.92 mm MG 34. That was adapted for the Luftwaffe. The 7.92 mm MG 81 was air cooled, belt fed, recoil operated (gas assisted) this weapon is light and easy to manufacture and replaced the 7.92 mm MG 15 and 7.92 mm MG 17.
