History

The 6. Räumbootsflottille was formed in Cuxhaven on 28 July 1941 from the 5. Räumbootsflottille and was initially commanded by Richard Rossow, this flotilla was made up of the following 1930-33 Type, 1936-42 Type and 1937-43 Type R-boats and was deployed for minesweeping and security duties.

After the war had ended 6. Räumbootsflottille was deployed for minesweeping by the The German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA) in the Adriatic sea.
