History

The 8. Räumbootsflottille was formed in January 1942 and was initially commanded by Otto Märgner, this flotilla was made up of the following 1936-42 Type and 1937-43 Type R-boats and was deployed for minesweeping and security duties.

After the end of the war the 8. Räumbootsflottille was deployed for minesweeping by the The German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA) around the coastal waters of Denmark.
