History

The Office of Military Government, United States (OMGUS) was created at the end of World War II to administrate occupied Germany and was under the command of General Lucas D Clay of the United States army.

The United States Group Control Council Germany (USGCC) was formed on the 8 May 1945 in which The Office of Military Government, United States (OMGUS) had to report however after the 1 October 1945 OMGUS was disbanded.

And from 5 December 1949 the United States High Commissioner for Germany took over from all other previous organisations.
