Adolf Hitler was born at Branau, Austria. In 1889 he became
chancellor of the German Reich on the 30th of January 1933.
Having imposed his Nazi order on Germany. He set about arousing
the country's traditional nationalism through an effective
propaganda campaign orchestrated by
Joseph
Goebbels, with a combination of astuteness and brutality.
He crushed all internal opposition. In March 1936, he re-occupied
the demilitarised zone of the Rhineland, yet no country opposed
him. And the annexation of Austria to Germany on the 13th
of March 1938, was also tolerated by the European powers.
Now success at Munich, allowed him to occupy the Sudetenland
as a prelude to more serious demands, demands which finally
killed the discredited policy of appeasement.
