The British government complained to the Norwegian government of perfunctory manner in which the German auxiliary naval vessel Altmark was examined, and pressed that she should now be interned.

Finns, by tactical retreat to new positions, said to have gained helpful respite. It was reported that near Kuhmo south of the Finnish waistline, several days fighting ended in complete destruction of three Russian battalions. Twenty four enemy aeroplanes, said to have been shot down. Russian air raiders, bombed Tampere, Pori, Isthmus and other towns.

The British tanker Imperial Transport was reported, blown in two by torpedo on 11 February 1940. However, the crew later returned to the stern half of their ship, and after four days, were picked up by a warship and landed in Scotland.

The Dutch cargo boat Ameland was mined in the North sea.

The Swedish steamers Liana and Osmed were reported sunk in the North sea.

The Norwegian vessel, Sangstad and the Finnish vessel Wilja were sunk by enemy action.

The Spanish steamer Banderas sank after an explosion.

The German steamer Morea was brought in to a West Country port by the destroyer HMS Hasty.
