The British War office announced that Allied forces were evacuated from Namsos on 2 May 1940 without loss.

Allied troops advancing upon Narvik were counter attacked on 1-2 May 1940, but both attacks were repulsed with loss to German forces.

Norwegian commander in Trondheim, sector, Colonel Getz, announced in an order of the day that, as he had munitions for only one more day, he had proposed an armistice.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) heavily and successfully bombed Danish airfield at Ry, north of Jutland. Stavanger and Fornebu were also bombed.

British reconnaissance aircraft attacked near Borkum by three Luftwaffe fighters, one of which was shot down.
