The HMS Alcantara, left Rio de Janeiro to resume search for raider. The British Admiralty announced that the mine sweeping trawler HMS Marsona had been sunk by enemy mine.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) made night raids on targets at Wismar, Kiel, Hamburg and Hamm and aerodromes at Schiphol and Borkum.

Reported that King’s African Rifles had occupied Todenyang in Abyssinia, near Kenya-Sudan border. Italian column occupied Zeila (British Somaliland) without opposition. Hargeisa captured by strong enemy force.

Four, Luftwaffe fighters shot down near Southeast coast by Spitfires. Raiders were reported over Southeast England, Wales, and over a Northeast coastal town.

Reported that two drafts of reinforcements for Second Australian Imperial Force had arrived in England.

President Roosevelt and American Attorney General addressed Governors of 42 States on legislation for suppression of fifth column activities.

Military agreement signed in London by British and Polish Governments.

British flying-boat Clare reached New York, completing first of series of transatlantic flights.
