British steamer Empire Dorado reported to be sinking of Ireland after being attack by Kriegsmarine sea raider.

Strong force of British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers attacked railway stations and goods yards at Munich, and also hit famous beer cellar. Many other important targets in Germany and enemy occupied territory were hit, including oil refineries, goods yards and 18 aerodromes.

The British Coastal Command aircraft made intense attack on submarine base at Lorient.

The war against Italy, the British Royal Air Force (RAF) renewed attacks on aircraft factory at Turin and Pirelli magneto works at Milan. Raids made on Tobruk and Derna (Libya) and on military centres in Abyssinia.

Luftwaffe Junkers Ju 87 dive bombers, escorted by Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighters, attacked shipping off East and Southeast coasts and were heavily engaged by the British Royal Air Force (RAF) Fifteen being shot down by one squadron. Two more destroyed by guns of HMS Winchester, and three others hit. HMS Winchester sustained slight damage. One merchant ship sunk and another damaged but reached port. Intense antiaircraft barrage reduced number of night raiders over London. ARP centre received direct hit.

Twenty Luftwaffe aircraft destroyed, Six British fighters lost, but three pilots safe.

The Greek War, Italians claimed to have reinforced their bridgeheads across River Kalamas. Greeks announced they had taken 150 more prisoners.

Yugoslavia Italians bombed Monastir.

Roosevelt stated that half United States War output would go to Britain.
