Bomber Command raided Hamburg, doing immense damage. Smaller forces attacked Bremen, Emden, Rotterdam, objectives in Berlin, and enemy shipping. Coastal Command bombed supply ships, docks and oil stores at La Pallice,

In Iraq, British captured Majara. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombed military objectives at Mosul.

Very heavy night raid on London. Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament and British Museum hit. Thirty-three Luftwaffe night raiders destroyed.
