Events On This Day

The British Admiralty announced loss of HMS Cossack. Mr. Churchill announced that British Air Force was now at least equal in size and numbers to the Luftwaffe.

Russian Front, New Wehrmacht drive to isolate Leningrad. The Wehrmacht claimed capture of Tikhvin, 110 miles Southeast of Leningrad. Soviet cavalry in action on Moscow front.

In the Mediterranean, Naples raided by the British Royal Air Force (RAF)

In Africa, Night raid on Benghazi.

Slight Luftwaffe activity over East and Northeast coasts. Two Luftwaffe planes destroyed.
