Events On This Day

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) set on fire Kriegsmarine supply ship off Borkum. Heavy night raid on docks at Brest. Other aircraft bombed Le Havre.

Russian Front, Kiev threatened by encirclement as result of fall of Chernigov, 80 miles to Northeast Soviet communique recorded continuance of stubborn fighting along whole front. Great air battles in Leningrad area.

In the Mediterranean, The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombed Cretan aerodromes during night of 12-13 September 1941, and Fleet Air Arm those at Gerbini and Catania, Sicily.
