Russian Front, Moscow reported stubborn fighting in four main regions of Kexholm, Staraya Russa, Smolensk and Estonia. The Wehrmacht High Command repeated that Odessa was encircled and iron ore centre of Krivoi Rog captured.

In Africa, Aerodromes of Berka and Benina and ports of Bardia and Benghazi bombed on night of 15-16 August 1941.

In their Mediterranean, The British Royal Air Force (RAF) attacked two tankers and two schooners, hitting all and probably sinking tankers. Fleet Air Arm made night attack on convoy two merchant vessels and one destroyer sunk, and another vessel damaged. During nights of 14-15 August 1941 and 15-16 August 1941 the British Royal Air Force (RAF) heavily raided Catania, Sicily. Augusta harbour and aerodromes of Gerbini and Trapani also bombed.
