Russian Front, Kalinin recaptured by the Red Army, six Wehrmacht divisions being smashed. Russians began new offensive against Finnish forces south of Lake Onega.

In Africa, Fierce battle in Libya around Alem Hamza, 15 miles South West of Gazala. British armoured forces reached a point 30 miles west of Gazala.

Far East Air Force (FEAF). 1st Lieutenant Boyd D Wagner (17th Pursuit Squadron) leads dive-bombing raid on airfield at Vigan and shoots down his fifth aircraft, thereby becoming the first Army Air Forces Ace in World War II.
