The British Admiralty announced loss of the trawlers HMS Manx Prince and HMS Refundo.

The war against Italy, Imperial troops, supported by Royal Navy and the British Royal Air Force (RAF), penetrated defences of Tobruk to depth of 5 miles on a broad front. Italian cruiser San Giorgio in harbour set on fire.

During the night of 20-21 January 1941 the British Royal Air Force (RAF) Carried out heavy raids on Catania (Sicily) and Derna (Libya). East of Kassala British troops in pursuit of retreating Italian forces reached point 30 miles inside Eritrea. Assab and Massawa raided by the British Royal Air Force (RAF) And Neghelli and Javello by South African Air Force.

Considerable Luftwaffe activity over eastern part of England during daylight. Bombs fell in outskirts of London and in Home and Eastern Counties. No night raids.

Luftwaffe bomber shot down in Channel.

The Greek War, Athens reported that successful local operations had been carried out.

It was reported that the British Royal Air Force (RAF) Had carried out heavy raids on Valona during the night of 19-20 January 1941 and by daylight on 20 January 1941. Military objectives at Elbasan were also raided.
