Russian Front, Moscow reported a serious situation at Tula, South of the capital, where the Wehrmacht launched a very heavy new offensive.

In the Mediterranean, Naples, Brindisi and Messina raided by the British Royal Air Force (RAF)

In Africa, Rapid British thrust towards Tobruk split up Afrika Corps armoured forces. Large force trapped in coastal area between Gambut and Capuzzo. Afrika Corps lost 130 tanks. British troops from Tobruk made a sortie supported by tanks.

In Abyssinia strong enemy positions at Kulkaber and Ferroaber, east of Lake Tana, heavily attacked. The Italian garrisons surrendered. Prisoners numbered 1,800. Italian garrison at Cirda encircled.
