Events On This Day

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) attack the French coast from Dunkirk to Boulogne during the evening, also on Mannheim and the Ruhr. Docks at Le Havre and Brest attacked.

Russian Front, Russians admitted grave situation in Donetz Basin area. Fresh Wehrmacht attack on Crimea held.

In the Mediterranean, Night raid on Naples. The British Admiralty announced submarine successes against enemy convoy. Two supply ships torpedoed.

In Africa, Night raid on docks and shipping at Benghazi. Landing ground at Gasr el Aryid bombed. Enemy positions in Gondar region bombed.

Luftwaffe night raiders over North Wales and Merseyside, England. Three Luftwaffe bombers destroyed.
