Russian Front, Moscow announced the recapture of Kaluga.

In Africa Afrika Corps forces at Jedabia, 100 miles south of Benghazi, attempting to cover Erwin Rommel's retreat into Tripolitania.

Far East, The garrison at Hong Kong was forced to surrender. The Japanese made a landing near Kuching, capital of Sarawak.

Far East Air Force (FEAF). Lieutenant Colonel Charles H Caldwell sets up Headquarters Far East Air Force (FEAF) United States on Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) airfield at Darwin.

It was revealed that General Wavell had visited Chunking for discussions with General Chiang Kai-Shek.

St. Pierre and Miquelon, French islands in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, taken over by Free French.
