Minesweepers and antiaircraft ships attacked off Dunkirk by Fighter Command. Kriegsmarine patrol ship sunk off Cherbourg. Cologne and West Germany, as well as docks at Calais and Dunkirk, bombed by night.

In the Mediterranean, Palermo harbour and railway and warehouses at Agrigento, Sicily, bombed on night of 26-27 September 1941.

In Iraq, General Wavell and General Auchinleck met in Baghdad for two day conference.

In Syria, Formal proclamation of Syrian independence at Damascus.
