Events On This Day

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Bombed Hanover in early hours of morning.

The war against Italy, Operations in Derna area developing satisfactorily. Stated that prisoners taken at Tobruk number 25,000. Marshal Graziani reported dismissed.

In Eritrea British forces closing in on enemy positions about Agordat and Barentu. Further Patriot successes reported from interior of Abyssinia.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Bombed railway stations at Keren and Aisha, 70 miles South West of Jibuti, and railway bridge and road east of Adarti. Stores and warehouses at Assab also attacked.

Luftwaffe aircraft shot down by antiaircraft fire at Boston, Lincolnshire, after dropping bombs on one coastal town. Other reports of Luftwaffe activity came from East Midlands, Northeast England and East Scotland.

The Greek War, Further Italian counter- attacks repelled by Greeks. Fighting along entire front growing in intensity. Greeks attacked between Malina and Hondiste.

Attack on Pearl Harbour, Joseph Grew, the United States ambassador to Japan, reports to Washington regarding a rumour overheard at a diplomatic reception concerning a planned surprise attack on Pearl Harbour, Hawaii.
