Kriegsmarine supply ship sunk off The Hague by Beauforts Kriegsmarine convoy off coast of Normandy attacked by Fighter Command, also shipping at Boulogne and aircraft at Berck. Night attacks on Duesseldorf, docks at Ostend and enemy aerodromes,

Russian Front, The Wehrmacht claimed capture of Klin, North West of Moscow the closest the Wehrmacht ground forces will ever come to capturing Moscow, and Tula was almost encircled. Russian counter-attack in Southern Ukraine continued.

In the Mediterranean, Night raid on Naples by the British Royal Air Force (RAF) Royal Arsenal hit.

In Africa, Elements of British main forces in Libya linked up with detachments advancing from Tobruk. Sidi Rezegh lost and recaptured. In Abyssinia, Gondar, the last Italian stronghold, surrendered.

Few Luftwaffe raiders over East Anglia and South Coast by night.
