Events On This Day

Berlin claimed that 19 ships, totalling 116,500 tons, were sunk by U-boats in attacks on British convoy in Atlantic lasting over some days.

Russian Front, Moscow reported continued lighting in direction of Nevel, Smolensk and Zhitomir. U-boat sunk by Soviet bomber, Berlin claimed that Rumanian troops in Bessarabia had reached mouth of river Dniester, and that Akkerman had been occupied.

In Africa, Four enemy bombers and two fighters, attacking British shipping off Libya, shot down by the British Royal Air Force (RAF).

Luftwaffe bombs fell at a few points near East Coast England.
