Events On This Day

The British Admiralty announced that British submarine attacked Kriegsmarine convoy near Libyan coast, sinking two schooners. Night raid on Brest docks.

Russian Front, Marshall Voroshilov now in charge of operations round Leningrad and directing counter-attacks.

In Africa, The British Royal Air Force (RAF) attacked Derna, Gazala and Bardia during night of 2-3 September 1941. South African Air Force (SAAF) shot down five enemy fighters near frontier.

In the Mediterranean, Fleet Air Arm attacked escorted convoy of five merchant vessels east of Sardinia during night of 2-3 September 1941. One large ship blown up, another hit, and two smaller ones damaged.
