Events On This Day

Operations towards Tobruk proceeding satisfactorily. Reported that during operations at Bardia three Blackshirt commanders deserted their troops, leaving Regular commanders to fight on.

Daylight raids by single aircraft. Bombs fell in a number of places including London and town in Midlands. No Luftwaffe activity at night.

Luftwaffe aircraft shot down by antiaircraft fire off East Coast.

The Greek war, Greek Admiralty announced that on night of 5 January 1941 Greek destroyers, sailing unmolested into Adriatic, heavily bombarded Valona, firing 60 shells.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Bombers raided military stores and buildings at Elbasan.
