Events On This Day

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) made daylight attacks on shipping in North Sea and objectives in Denmark, Low Countries, and Northern France. Kiel heavily bombed at night. Other targets were Bremerhaven, Emden and oil targets at Rotterdam.

The war against Italy, Massawa surrendered and was occupied. Hard rearguard action in Libya.

Heavy Luftwaffe double night attack on Coventry. Hospital repeatedly hit. Hostile Luftwaffe aircraft also reported from other areas. Seven Luftwaffe aircraft destroyed.

In the Balkans, From Doiran Wehrmacht mechanised division advanced into Greece east of River Vardar in direction of Salonika. In Struma valley enemy was still held by forts of Rupcl, Usita and others. Yugoslavs forced to withdraw in South, leaving Greek left Hank uncovered.
