Events On This Day

The British Admiralty announced the loss of HMS. drifter Thistle and HMS. trawler Evesham. British bombers made widespread daylight attacks on enemy shipping off Norway, Holland, Belgium and France. By night the British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombed objectives in the Ruhr, including Essen and Dortmund.

In Africa, The British Royal Air Force (RAF) made prolonged night raids on Benghazi and Dernat Fleet Air Arm attacked Tripoli.

Near East, The British and Free French troops, supported by the British Royal Air Force (RAF), crossed Syrian frontier at dawn. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) made heavy raids on harbour and aerodromes in Rhodes during night of 8-9 June 1941.

Sharp Luftwaffe raid on South West coast town.
