The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers raided targets in the Ruhr at night.

Russian Front, More localities on the Leningrad front captured by the Red Army.

In the Mediterranean, Cairo announced that a cruiser, a merchant vessel, and a destroyer were torpedoed and set on fire by British aircraft.

Far East, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) bombers heavily attacked Japanese invasion forces in New Guinea. Port Moresby raided by Japanese for tenth time. Japanese made a further landing on New Guinea at Finschhafen.

Mr. Eden told the House of atrocities committed by the Japanese on the garrison at Hong Kong.
