Several squadrons of British Royal Air Force Lancaster bombers attacked submarine building yards at Danzig and Flensburg by day.

Russian Front. Fierce fighting on the outskirts of Voronezh battles also raging at Kantemirovka and Lisichansk.

In Africa. Our troops in northern sector consolidated positions in captured territory, 2,000 prisoners taken. Light naval units and naval aircraft attacked Mersa Matruh.

In China. Japanese occupied Wenchow on Chekiang coast Chinese recaptured Futou Island near Foochcw.

In Australasia. Japanese bombers attacked shipping at Port Moresby, where, it was announced, American troops are stationed.

Eighth Air Force. First formal decoration ceremony held in Eighth Air Force takes place when General Spaatz pins DSC on Major Charles C Kegelman for extraordinary gallantry and heroism during the raid of 4 July 1942.

United States Army, Middle East Air Forces (USAMEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers attack harbour and shipping at Bengasi during 11-12 July 1942.

Eleventh Air Force. 4 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers taking off for weather, bombing and photo mission to Kiska are attacked by seaplane fighters. No losses. A cruiser is bombed with unobserved results.
