It was announced in Canada that three Allied ships had been torpedoed and sunk in Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Strong force of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers attacked Ruhr by night.

Russian Fronts. Fierce fighting round Voronezh and Boguchar, further Russian withdrawal east of Lisichansk.

In Africa. Afrika Korps tank and infantry attacks beaten off in Northern sector.

United States Army, Middle East Air Forces (USAMEAF). During 13-14 July 1942, B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers bomb Tobruk harbour, and B-24 Liberator heavy bombers hit ships and harbour at Bengasi. Heavy antiaircraft fire accounts for loss of I B-24 Liberator heavy bombers.
