Russian Front. Fierce fighting round Kharkov and Sebastopol.

In the Mediterranean. In air attacks on the Italian fleet attacking Westbound convoy, cruiser sunk, battleship torpedoed, and 22 enemy aircraft shot down.

In Australasia Extensive raid on Darwin by 27 Japanese bombers. Allied bombers attacked Kupang, Lae and Salamaua.

Argentina and Chile warned by Germany that vessels entering North American blockade zone after 26 June 1942 do so at their own risk.

Eighth Air Force. General Spaatz, Commanding General, arrives in United Kingdom. VIII Bomber Command takes significant step toward development of organisation for control of combat operations by establishing 1st Bomber Wing, Provisional, at Brampton Grange.

HALPRO. 7 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, along with 2 The British Royal Air Force (RAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers and The British Royal Air Force (RAF) torpedo carrying Beauforts, attack Italian fleet East of Malta. The B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb and damage a battleship and a cruiser, while the Beauforts sink a cruiser.

Eleventh Air Force. A bombing mission to Kiska by 3 B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers and 2 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers is aborted due to weather.
