Russian Front, Soviet troops captured a number of villages in various sectors. Capture of a Black Sea port announced by Moscow radio.

In the Mediterranean, Island of Rhodes attacked by The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers and naval units before dawn.

Far East, Japanese fleet movements reported off West Australia. Rabaul and Gasmata again bombed by Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).

Fifth Air Force. 3 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers of 435th Reconnaissance Squadron, 19th Bomber Group begin evacuating General MacArthur, his family, and his staff from Del Monte to Australia.
