The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers carried out a massive aerial attack on the chemical works in Holland and oil refineries near Ghent by day. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers carried out night raids on Flensburg and other Baltic ports.

Russian Front. The Russians had managed to repulse five successive Wehrmacht ground Force attacks, The Wehrmacht ground forces gained same ground north-west of Stalingrad.

In Australasia. In New Guinea our troops occupied Nauro, United States army fighters raided Japanese ground forces and shipping at Guadalcanal in the Solomons.

United States Army, Middle East Air Forces (USAMEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb shipping in Pylos Bay, claiming 2 direct hits and several near misses on a large vessel. Other B-24 Liberator heavy bombers dispatched to bomb convoy at sea fail to find target.

Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers and P-400 fighters pound forces and command in Owen Stanley Range, hitting Menari, Kagi; Myola Lake, Kokoda area, Wairopi bridge, and Buna-Wairopi trail.

Eleventh Air Force. A Japanese reconnaissance aeroplane over Adak establishes United States occupation on the island. 7 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers on a search attack and photo reconnaissance mission over Kiska hit hangars and ramps, starting several fires. 4 fighters appear and are engaged. 1 probable victory is claimed. 2 other B-24 Liberator heavy bombers take off, after Navy Catalinas contact transport, but cannot locate it.
