Russian Front, Heaviest fighting was around Leningrad, Rjev, Orel, Kursk, Kharkov, and the Crimea.

In Africa, In Libya a patrol of the Royall's penetrated as far as Msus, raiding Field Marshall Erwin Rommel's base enemy vehicles were destroyed and prisoners captured.

Far East, Allied announced that losses inflicted on Japanese invasion fleet on 19-20 February 1942 off Bali were at least one cruiser sunk and five damaged two destroyers sunk one transport sunk and six damaged. In Burma, Japanese advanced towards Pegu.

Fifth Air Force. General Brett, Deputy Commanding General American-British-Dutch-Australian Forces Command ( ABDACOM), informs War Department (WD) of his decision to evacuate Fifth Air Force and other United States troops from Java. Fifth Air Force bombers at Java bases fly about 20 strikes, usually in 2 and 3 aircraft elements, against shipping in Java Sea and against targets on Bali from this date through 1 March 1942. 11 strikes are complete failures the remainder, although causing some damage to vessels and airfields facilities, fail to deter the invasion of Java.
