North West and South of Stalingrad had assumed the nature of an offensive.
In Burma. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers attacked Japanese airfields
at Mingaladon and Toungoo.
Twelfth Air Force. United States Army Air
Force (USAAF) P-38 Lightning fighters of 1st Group arrive at Nouvion to replace
14th Group in escorting B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers. B-17 Flying Fortress
heavy bombers hit El Aouina airfield. During 21-22
November 1942 enemy aeroplanes again hit Algiers, damaging several aircraft and
destroying a B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers.
Ninth Air Force. United
States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers flying out of Gambut
bomb Tripoli harbour, scoring direct hit on warehouse. The British Royal Air Force
(RAF) heavy bombers follow United States raids with staggered attacks during 21-22

Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) A-20 Havoc light bombers and B-25
Mitchell medium bombers pound airfield, antiaircraft positions, and bridge at
Buna and hit village of Sanananda in support of Allied ground forces. Australian-United
States force is advancing from Soputa toward Sanananda. United States forces driving
on Buna are halted by strong bunker positions at The Triangle here trails to Buna
mission and Buna village meet.
Eleventh Air Force. Reconnaissance is
