Russian Front, Moscow announced the recapture of several more inhabited points.

Far East, In Malaya, Japanese reached Kulai, 18 miles from Singapore Island. Fighting in Burma developed cast of Moulmein. Japanese in Luzon reinforced. Fighting continued in and around Balik Papan, in Borneo. The Dutch gorillas active in the Minabassa peninsula of Celebes. Japanese transports sighted of Amboyna.

Boys of 17 registered for national service.

Hawaiian Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers of Task group 8.9 return to Hawaii, having completed a mission (began on 16 January 42) which afforded a pioneer look at the problem of air operations over vast Pacific areas, especially the problems of navigation and the servicing of aircraft.

Adolf Hitler, In a speech made in Berlin, warned Germany that the road ahead was likely to be hard and difficult.
