Russian Front. The Wehrmacht ground forces continue to attack with troops and panzers at Kursk and Sevastopol still being held by Russians.

In Africa. No large-scale fighting Afrika Korps reported to have passed Ei Daba.

In the Indian Ocean. South African land and air forces officially stated to be in Madagascar.

Eighth Air Force. Joint Anglo-American control of Burtonwood air depot begins with view toward subsequent exclusive control by Army Air Forces. VIII Air Force Services Command (AFSC) is designated United States agent at Burtonwood.

United States Army, Middle East Air Forces (USAMEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Tobruk harbour during 29-30 June 1942 first United States combat casualties in Middle East are recorded as 1 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers is lost. General Brereton moves his detachment from Egypt to Palestine, as Field Marshal Erwin Rommel's advances toward the Suez Canal.

Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers attack Dili, Koepang and Kendari; B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and B-26 Marauder medium bombers hit Lae in New Guinea.

Eleventh Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers flies weather reconnaissance over Kiska.
