The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Stirling bombers carried out daylight raids on industrial and railway targets in Western Germany.

In Egypt. Armoured battle developed following infantry advance.

Russian Front. Fresh Wehrmacht ground forces attacks on Stalingrad were beaten off by valiant Russian defenders.

In Australasia. United States of America land forces made further progress against Japanese ground forces on Guadalcanal.

United States Army, Middle East Air Forces (USAMEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb tanks, motor transports, landing ground, ammunition dumps, mainly in Rahman Track area and on road between Fuka and El Daba, and also hit town of Fuka and Ghazal station. P-40s fly several escort and FR missions, attacking round targets in support of British Eighth Army. Allied aircraft fly more than 400 sorties against troops retreating along coastal road. During 3-4 November 1942, British and Indian troops outflank and break enemy tank screen in sector South of Tell el Aqqaqir.

Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-26 Marauder medium bombers bomb Dili. B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers bomb airfields and wharf at Lae, and attack ship South of Gasmata.
