Events On This Day

Daylight raid on Germany by Bomber Command.

Russian Front, Fighting reported in the streets of Mojaisk Moscow announced recapture of Borovsk, 25 miles Southeast of Mojaisk.

In the Mediterranean, Enemy submarine base at Salamis, near Athens, raided by the British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers during night of 3-4 January 1942.

In Africa, Enemy positions at Halfaya heavily attacked from the air.

Far East, Big battle still raging between Chinese and Japanese in Hunan province. In the Philippines. Fighting continued in Pampanga province, north of Manila. In Malaya the Japanese reached a point 35 miles north-west of Kuala Lumpur, and made fresh landings on the west coast of Malaya.

President Roosevelt and Mr. Winston Churchill attended a conference of the Allied War Council in Washington.

Far East Air Force (FEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF) Fighters from Bataan attempt interception of bombing raid on Corregidor. The fighters, failing to intercept until the enemy aeroplanes are over the target, have little effect on the raid. Several fighters depart from Mindanao following the mission.
