The British Admiralty announced the loss of HMS Triumph Submarine of the T class.

Russian Front, Marshal Semyon Timoshenko's armies launched big pincers movement on Kharkov. Fierce fighting in the sector between Leningrad and the Valdai Hills.

In Africa, Little change in the general position.

Far East, Heavy artillery duels across the Johore Strait. Surabaya again raided. Japanese aircraft raided Port Moresby, in New Guinea.

New government formed in Cairo with Nahas Pasha as Premier.

Far East, Caribbean, Hawaiian, and Alaskan Air Forces are redesignated Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eleventh Air Forces, respectively.
