The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers carried out a series of night attacks on Brest.

Russian Front, Soviet landing in the Crimea continued. Red Army reoccupied Meshchovsk, 40 miles South West of Kaluga.

In Africa, Axis forces at Jedabia retreated is eastwards under cover of a heavy sandstorm.

Far East, Heavy lighting in the Philippines to the North West of Manila. Corregidor heavily bombed. In Malaya, Japanese claimed to have captured the whole of the Kampar area, North of Kuala Lumpur.

President Roosevelt presented to Congress the greatest Budget in history, calling for an expenditure of over £13,000,000,000.
