Eighth Air Force. 35 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-26 Marauder medium bombers hit Beaumont-le-Roger airfield.

Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). Northwest African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) B-26 Marauder medium bombers, with escort of Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) A-36 Apache dive bomber, bomb Mn at Salerno. Medium bombers and escort claim 26 enemy fighters destroyed. Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) fighters on armed reconnaissance hit motor transport South of Locri-Gioia Tauro area and Northeast of Bagnara.

Ninth Air Force. All fighters and medium bombers groups of Ninth Air Force are transferred to Twelfth Air Force.

Fourteenth Air Force. 4 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-40 fighters bomb Japanese Headquarters and supply dump at Tengehung, and strafe trucks and troops in the area, 2 others strafe road traffic between Tengehung and Lungling.

Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers strike Dili. As result of air offensive against Wewak and satellite airfields, Japanese airpower on New Guinea is sufficiently naturalised for 4 Allied destroyers to proceed along coast from Milne Bay to Finschhafen. After bombarding Finschhafen during 22-23 August 1943, the warships return to Milne Bay.

Thirteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and naval dive bombers, escorted by fighters aircraft, bomb barge centres on West Vella Lavella Island.
