Eighth Air Force. Over United States Army Air Force (USAAF) 180 heavy bombers attack German rocket-launching site construction at Watten. This is the first of the Eighth's missions against V-weapon sites (later designated NOBALL targets). 36 B-26 Marauder medium bombers hit Poix airfield. Mission to bomb Rouen power station is aborted because of bad weather and extremely heavy enemy fighters opposition.

Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). Northwest African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers bomb Sulmona Mn, and medium bombers hit Benevento and Caserta Mns. Nearly 150 P-38 Lightning fighters escort the bombers. Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) medium bombers, light bombers, and fighters attack targets in South Italy, including Catanzaro rail and road junction, guns near Reggio di Calabria, Sibari rail junctions, Cetraro marshalling yard, barracks at Tarsia, train and repair shops at Paola, and barge at Diamante.

Fourteenth Air Force. 5 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-40 fighters strafe large truck convoy between Sintsiang and Yoyang, destroying 6 trucks and damaging 15 others 1 P 40 is downed by ground fire. 6 other P-40 fighters hit command lines between Yoyang and Hankow; targets include 2 small steamboats, a gunboat, several railroad cars, and a water tower.

Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-26 Marauder medium bombers attack bridges in Bogadjim area. A-20 Havoc light bombers bomb and strafe barges and troops along Bubui River in Lae area. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb Dili and Cape Chater airstrip.

Thirteenth Air Force. 10 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) SB-24 Liberator heavy bombers (Snoopers) equipped with radar devices that permit blind bombing, begin operations from Camey Field, Guadalcanal. 12 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, 8 P-40 fighters, and 8 Navy F4U Corsair fighter strafe barges and shoreline targets at Kakasa. P-39 fighters strafe barges and shore targets at Ringa Cove.

Henschel Hs 293
was used against the Royal Navy's sloop HMS Egret which was sunk 30 nautical miles west of Vigo, Spain.

was used against the Canadian destroyer HMCS Athabaskan which was severely damaged.
