Events On This Day

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Venturas attacked shipping at Rotterdam and railway yards at Abbeville by day. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers made another heavy night raid on Berlin and also bombed Bochum in the Ruhr.

North Africa. In Southern Tunisia the British Eighth Army troops occupied El Hamma and Gabes in the north the First Army closed in on Sejenane.

In Burma. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers made night raid cm Heho airfield.

In Australasia. Japanese air force bombers again raided Oro Bay, New Guinea.

Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). Weather cancels all Northwest African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) operations. Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) fighters bomb and strafe truck column South of Djebel Chemsi, troop concentration near Mezzouna, and vehicles at other points along Tunisian battlefront.

Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers attack Sfax and El Maou area, scoring hits on several parked aircraft. P-40 fighters fly escort and fighter-bomber missions as British ground forces pursue enemy North through Gabes. British Eighth Army completes occupation of Mareth Line.

Fourteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-40 fighters strafe trucks at Bhamo and fuel drums at Chefang.

Fifth Air Force. A lone B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers bombs Gasmata airfield while another attacks Mur-Weber Point area.

Thirteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers and B-24 Liberator heavy bombers pound Buin and Kahili. P-38 Lightning fighters strafe seaplane base at Faisi.

Eleventh Air Force. 7 medium bombers and heavy bombers, with fighters escort, bomb and strafe Kiska runway and nearby Main Camp area. Heavy antiaircraft fire damages 5 bombers and 2 P-38 Lightning fighters.
