Ninth Air Force. XXIX Tactical Air Command (Provisional) is activated at Vermand, in anticipation of operating with United States Ninth Army, shortly to join 12th Army Group. General Nugent is Commanding General. About 140 B-26 Marauder medium bombers and A-20 Havoc light bombers bomb gun emplacements and strong points in Brest area. Fighters fly armed reconnaissance in various battle areas. Transports continue large-scale supply and evacuation missions.

Twelfth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) medium bombers attack defensive positions in East and Central parts of Gothic Line as enemy fiercely resists, especially at Il Giogo Pass and on Monte Altuzzo. Fighter-bombers continue strikes against command and movement in Po Valley despite bad weather which limits France based fighters to a few sweeps in South France.

Tenth Air Force. 4 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers drop fragmentation booby-trap bombs on Bhamo. Large-scale transport operations continue to various points in China-Burma-India (CBI).

Fourteenth Air Force. 6 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb Tunganhsien. 91 P-40 fighters and P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers attack inland shipping, troop compounds, supplies, and numerous buildings around Lungling area, throughout vast expanse of inland Southeast China, mainly in Hunan, and other areas South of Tungting Lake.

Far East Air Force (FEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers pound Mapanget airstrip on Menado area. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers hit 4 airfields on Halmahera. A-20 Havoc light bombers and B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb Babo airfield while fighter-bombers make scattered small raids on antiaircraft positions, airfields, and targets on Vogelkop Peninsula.

Seventh Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers from Saipan bomb Iwo Jima. P-47 Thunderbolt fighters make strafing and rocket attacks on warehouses and shelters on Pagan. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers on armed reconnaissance bomb Marcus. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers from Eniwetok bomb Truk while Gilberts based B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit Ponape.

Eleventh Air Force. During 13-14 September 1944, 3 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers strike Kurabu Cape shipping and airfield.

Eighth Air Force. The 3 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) fighters wings and 15 fighters groups of VIII , Fighter Command are transferred to the 3 bomb divisions.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit Walthamstow.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit Woolwich.

V-2 rocket launched against England, hit Rotherfield.
