Fourteenth Air Force. A single United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers attacks 3 truck convoys in Siang Chiang Valley and bombs area along river at Hengyang. 70 P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers and P-47 Thunderbolt fighters continue to disrupt enemy movement in Indochina and South and East China, attacking bridges, railroad yards, rail, road, and river traffic, airfields, gun positions, and many other targets at various locations, especially around Suichwan, Linfen, and Sinsiang.

Far East Air Force (FEAF). Almost 150 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, and A-26 Invader light bombers pound Chiang Wan airfield. P-47 Thunderbolt fighters attack shipping and warehouses in Taishan Island area while others hit Tinghai airfield. P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers over Kyushu and North Ryukyu Islands attack shipping, severely damaging a 10,000 ton cargo vessel in harbour on Amami-O-Shima. P-47 Thunderbolt fighters dive-bomb railroad tunnels North West and South West of Kagoshima. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Iimboeng barracks and strafe schooner off South West Celebes. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers attack Jesselton airfield and Itu Aba Island.

Twentieth Air Force. During 17-18 July 1945, 27 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's mine Shimonoseki Strait and waters in Nanao Fushiki area, at Henashi Cape, Iwase and at Seishin. Also, units of British Pacific Fleet join United States Third Fleet units in bombardment of Japan.

Eleventh Air Force. Unsuccessful shipping sweeps are flown by 2 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers over Shimushiru and by 4 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers between Kurabu and Paramushiru.
