Events On This Day

Fourteenth Air Force. 18 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and 14 P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers and P-47 Thunderbolt fighters knock out bridges North of Shihkiachwang and North of Saiping, bomb power plant, barracks, and warehouse at Sinsiang, bomb Nanyo Hengyang road, and hit railroad yard at Siaokan. 80 fighter-bombers attack bridges, gun positions, river, road, and rail traffic, and generally harass Japanese movements throughout South and East China, particularly around Hengyang, Yoyang, Liuchow, Changsha, Lipu, and Luchai.

Far East Air Force (FEAF). Oil facilities, shore defences and nearby Manggar airfield on Balikpapan area are well covered by heavy bombers, medium bombers, and fighter-bombers. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Mandai airfield. On Luzon medium bombers and fighter-bombers hit targets mostly troop concentrations and resistance pockets in Cagayan Valley, in Cervantes area, and in Infanta sector.

Twentieth Air Force. During 25-26 June 1945, 26 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's plant mines in Shimonoseki Strait and at Maizuru and off Obama Island.

Eleventh Air Force. At dawn 3 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers from Guam attack heavy antiaircraft positions on West coast of Marcus.
