The 7.92 mm MG 81Z (Maschinengewehr 81 zwilling) was a machine gun designed and produced by Mauser Werke AG in 1938. The 7.92 mm MG 81Z, was basically a modified 7.92 mm MG 34. That was adapted for the Luftwaffe. In 1942, a twin Mount was designed for the 7.92 mm MG 81, which allowed two weapons to be mounted on a single Mount this was known as 7.92 mm MG 81Z, that was air cooled, belt fed, recoil operated (gas assisted) this weapon is light and easy to manufacture and replaced the 7.92 mm MG 15 and 7.92 mm MG 17.
