The R4M Orkan Bordrakete (Typhoon or Hurricane) was a air
to air missile. Designed and developed by DWM and Heber AG
                    in 1944.

The R4M Orkan Bordrakete (Typhoon or Hurricane) was a 55
mm calibre rocket propelled unguided folding fin air to air
missile system design work was begun by DWM at the request
of Kurt Heber this missile was designed as simply as possible
so it could be produced in huge quantities. The missiles make
up is as follows, nose impact fuse, an HA 41 warhead, solid
fuel rocket motor. The R4M was then mounted as auxiliary
armament beneath the wings of the carrier aircraft as a wooden
rack in multiples of six or 12 fitted to each wing. And was
fired at intervals 0.07 seconds at a distance of 1,000 m its
dispersion covered an area of 15 m high by 30 m wide, once
launched the individual fins on the R4M missiles automatically
                    opened.

Only a small number of aircraft were fitted with R4M
