Komet (HSK-7) was an auxiliary cruiser of the Kriegsmarine
in the World War II, meant for duty as a commerce raider.
Recognised by the Kriegsmarine as Schiff 45, to the Royal
Navy she was identified as Raider B. Her secondary raid started
in early October 1942. Only a week out of Hamburg, on 14 October,
she was hit by British motor torpedo boats close to the Cap
de la Hague. She was struck by a torpedo from MTB 236 and
capsized with no survivors. In 1940 Komet raided 3 ships whereas
in 1941 it raided 7 ships in concert with the Orion.
