The destroyer Erich Giese takes part in operation Weser�bung (Invasion of Denmark and Norway) along with Anton Schmitt, Wilhlem Heidkamp, Diether von Roeder, Georg Thiele, Erich Koellner, Bernd von Arnim, Hans Lüdemann, Hermann Künne and Wolfgang Zenker.

13 April 1940
The destroyer Erich Giese is sunk by six British destroyers. 83 crew lost. Position 68° 24.5N 17° 39E.
